005: Christmas lights troubleshooting

Alright, not Christmas lights, but lights on Christmas day.

Set out today to do the following:

-Diagnose tail light issue
-Diagnose reverse light issue
-setup wiring for fuel pump switch
-pull driver's door interior... maybe.

What I actually did:

-Diagnose tail light issue
-Diagnose reverse light issue

It was raining most of the day, so I couldn't really get much done until the rain slowed and I could move the car and such.

Tail light issue:
So, like I said in my last post, I originally thought the issue with the lights was the switch. Well, I was partially right. As I was testing voltage, I realized that the connection TO the switch was almost melted, as if it had shorted. Took a small screw driver and gently cleaned the contact. Works all good now! So that's fixed.

Reverse light:
Simply put, after removing the trim around the shifter, the connection for the switch is right there. Shorted the connection because no matter what position the gear shifter was in, the other connection was always open loop. Long story short, needs a new reverse switch, or the wires to the switch are fubared. Either way, simple fix.

So the list of things that need to be ordered:
-Alternator
-Reverse light switch
Maybe:
-1 more tail light gasket
-trunk gasket

That's it, once the reverse light issue is sorted and I replace a burnt bulb, I'll be able to pass inspection. Unless the broken tail light prevents you from passing inspection? Either way, that's on the way as well.

Here's a video of the car currently:

Total: (found ~$2 worth of coins so far)
$656.
