1/1/10
First off, happy new year. This will be the year that the e30 becomes a legitimate time attack car. Just kidding, that's 2011. So back on to the car status...
What's been done.
Since the last post? Not really anything. It's hard to do something without a charged battery and without a runnable motor. The thing I just finished today was the...
Alternator.
After being cleaned an inspected, Mr alternator man said that everything was good. Well, the obvious would be the alternator or the battery. If niether is an issue, well, that means something between the two is messed up. Well, putting it back on the car to diagnose the problem, after realizing the car won't start up without a fuel pump relay(my dumbass for about 5 seconds), the car started up and showed 13V. I looked up and my father had already taken the jumper cables off the other battery. WHAT?!?! I look down at the voltmeter in disbelief. Still showing 13V, and climbing slowly. IT'S FIXED! I guess the clean did the trick. The charging system is all sorted out.
What's next?
The only thing left to pass inspection(and drive it there) is the reverse light switch. As noted before, the reverse circuit functions fine if closed. After replacing that and about 3 bulbs, everything will be peachy to pass inspection.
So here's the list:
-Reverse light switch
-License plate bulb (1 of 2)
-1 rear lamp
everything is purchased except for the reverse light switch, which is also fairly cheap.
Seats.
I'm real close to buying some Recaros, just trying to justify having them in such a slow car.
Total:
Nothing spent since last time!
$676.
